Background/Wallpaper
- Double click on my computer
- On the left-hand side of the screen look under "other places"
- Click on control panel
- Click on appearance and themes
- Double click on change the desktop background
- Using the up/down arrows, you can scroll through the different backgrounds.
- Click on the item you would like to view
- When you decide on the background click apply (to save choice)
- Then click ok (to close screen)
Screen Saver
- Double click on my computer
- On the left-hand side of the screen look under "other places"
- Click on control panel
- Click on appearance and themes
- Click on choose a screen saver
- Click on the arrow for the pull down menu choose a screen saver to view
- When you have found one you like click apply (to save choice)
- Then ok (to close screen)
Check programs that are running in start-up
- Click once on start go to programs (move mouse so programs is highlighted). Then move mouse over start-up. This shows how many programs operating when you start the computer. And the more programs you have listed the slower your computer will run.

- Double click on my computer
- Under the heading Other Places
- Click on control panel
- Click on network & Internet connections
- Click on Internet options
- Under the heading homepage there is an address bar you can enter an address
How much hard drive space have I used?
- Double click on my computer
- Right click on Local Disk C: under hard disk drives
- Click on properties
- A graph will appear on your screen, it will show you how much space you have used and how much is left. Click on the X in the upper right-hand corner of your screen to close window.
Closing a window
- You can click on the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen or click on file then click on close or exit.
